Tally Box
Universal Tally System
The Tally Box is a simple yet powerful external tally lamp system designed for broadcast, live production, and AV environments. It provides clear, visual identification of active cameras or speakers, supporting both universal and proprietary tally protocols such as TSL, Blackmagic, Sony, TriCaster, and more. The system supports up to 8 wired SKAARHOJ Tally Lamps wired to Ethernet-based Tally Box, offering seamless integration and easy deployment with Power over Ethernet (PoE), ensuring reliable tally management across a wide range of devices.
Ease of Integration
Integrating an external tally lamp system could not be easier. Simply connect the Tally box to the same local network as your live production system, plug in the SKAARHOJ Tally Lamps - either in star or daisy chain topology, specify the IP address and you’re good to go. Perfect solution for utilising tally lights in live production and broadcast systems consisting of various brands of equipment that communicate in different protocols, or for situations where the tally lights built into cameras are either too small or are obscured by other equipment - such as teleprompters.
Bright, Clear and Functional
Each tally lamp is easy to install on virtually any camera system using a cold shoe or quarter inch screw and features a big, bright red light on the viewer’s side (for on-air identification) and red and green light on the operator’s side for program and preview indication so everyone sees what is relevant to them.
Not Only for Broadcast
SKAARHOJ’s tally system can be integrated into many different kinds of systems, not only in broadcast or live production. Whilst broadcast is its pedigree, the lights can be used in other scenarios, such as AV and corporate and be manually triggered by any of the SKAARHOJ’s hardware buttons - for example to designate the active speaker in a meeting or to indicate system availability.
Universal Compatibility
SKAARHOJ’s Tally Box system is compatible with the majority of ethernet-based tally protocols, but even if you have an older, not ip-enabled system, we still have you covered! Our ETH-GPI box can convert analogue GPIO interfaces present in many professional broadcast and live production systems to ethernet, which in turn is recognised by the Tally Box.
