L8: Shift levels
Introduction to shift levels to extend the sources selected on the bus row on the Live Fly with the shift key. The session also contains some notes about how master the local configuration availability (“webconfig” command and system action). This includes notes how the Controller element works for setting default values.
Summary: First, Kasper shows how web configuration (local configuration) can be toggled with the “webconfig” action in the serial monitor and how this can be assigned to a button or even as a boot-up setting using the Controller element. Kasper also demonstrates how the Controller element can even be used to set a default color for the whole panel. About 4:45 min into the video we finally get to talk about shift levels and Kasper adds the system action to toggle a shift state between 0 and 1. Then he moves on to add alternative functionality to the bus row so when you hold down shift another source is selected for Preview. Doing this involves selecting the “Or (Shift)” modifier between the selected actions. After quickly proving the function he adds it to the whole bus row, including adding “System: No action” to blank out keys that doesn’t have a source in the shifted situation. Finally he demonstrates how shift could also affect other functions such as the Upstream Keyer enable key, changing it between toggle and auto. (Multiple shift levels is not covered in this video, but that is addressed in lesson 15).
